The Rolling Stones finally confirm new album ‘Foreign Tongues’, featuring Paul McCartney and Robert Smith

The Rolling Stones have officially confirmed their new album, Foreign Tongues, set for release on July 10th.

After weeks of teasing in every way possible, including billboards across the globe with the title of the record translated into a bundle of different languages, the wait for confirmation is finally over.

To make things even sweeter, the album announcement has been accompanied by the release of the lead single, ‘In The Stars’, proving that The Stones haven’t lost their touch at making a feel-good, uplifting anthem.

Additionally, ‘Rough and Twisted’, which serves as the opening track to Foreign Tongues, has also been made available on streaming platforms.

Last month, under the alias of The Cockroaches, which they previously used in 1977, the song was shared as a vinyl-only release earlier this month. Notably, it was priced at £10.07 in the UK and $10.07 in the US, giving away that the album is set to arrive on July 10th.

Foreign Tongues, which boasts 14 tracks, sees The Rolling Stones reunite with producer Andrew Watt, who previously helmed the chart-topping Hackney Diamonds in 2023.

There’s also a vast number of special guests across the record, including none other than Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith, Steve Winwood and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

Meanwhile, Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford and Steve Jordan were all core contributors to the record alongside Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, and Ronnie Wood.

In a statement, Jagger reflected on making Foreign Tongues, “I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”

Richards was equally enthusiastic, adding, “The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us. It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it’s all about the enjoyment of it.”

Looking ahead to the future, the rock icon added, “I’m blessed to be able to do this and long may it last.”

Wood also shared of the process, “The atmosphere in the room was so creative, and the whole band was on top form throughout the whole process. Very often we nailed it on the first take. I hope everyone loves it.”

The cover art, which The Rolling Stones shared on social media over the weekend, comes courtesy of Nathaniel Mary Quinn, who said, “Creating the album cover for the Rolling Stones is an artistic honour – a dialogue with one of the most enduring forces in cultural history.”

Following the announcement, Jagger, Richards and Wood have begun a press tour in New York in celebration of Foreign Tongues.

A full tracklist is expected to follow in due course.
