The Rolling Stones confirm new album title and share cover art
The Rolling Stones appear to have confirmed the title and cover artwork for their new album in a series of cryptic posts shared on each of the band members’ social media pages.
The posts came from the Instagram pages of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, each posting snippets of their new album cover, which, when placed together, forms a patchwork art piece featuring their faces blended together as one.
The images also feature the words Foreign Tongues, seemingly confirming the title of the new album, which was also previously spotted on teaser posters and billboards around the world, from Manchester to Warsaw, translated into a series of different languages.
While any additional details for Foreign Tongues, including a release date, have yet to be announced, fans have been quick to share theories, one of which was based on their recent release of their new single, ‘Rough and Twisted’, which was priced at £10.07, suggesting that the album might be set for a Friday, July 10th release.
‘Rough and Twisted’ was teased under their well-known moniker, the Cockroaches, a name they also often use for secret performances. The song was released in a limited edition rollout at the time, and confirmed to be the Stones’ song three days later via their social media pages.
Foreign Tongues would mark the band’s first release since 2023’s Hackney Diamonds, both records involving record producer Andrew Watt, and their second since the death of drummer Charlie Watts.
Watt confirmed his involvement in the next Stones record last year, when he told Rolling Stone that “when the tongue is up in the air, you just go”, adding, “I can say we did some recording together, but that’s all I can say.”
Of course, with any new Stones record, there’s much anticipation for an accompanying tour. However, it’s unlikely that the band will execute a full tour cycle for Foreign Tongues, or any dates at all, as confirmed by a spokesperson speaking to The Times earlier this month: “The Rolling Stones will play when they decide to, not before. There are no concerts planned.”
This follows a previous cancellation of the band’s 2025 tour plans across Europe for unknown reasons, as well as the cancellation of their proposed 2026 tour plans due to Keith Richards’ arthritis, which impacts his ability to perform live. Their last show to date was July 21st, 2024, which marked the end of their Hackney Diamonds North American tour.
