The Flaming Lips soar at Somerset House Summer Series show: Here’s their setlist in full
The Flaming Lips soared through their headline set on the penultimate night of the Somerset House Summer Series.
The American psychedelic rockers performed a rare set of era-defining tracks, split into two halves.
They opened the momentous occasion with their 2006 track, ‘It Overtakes Me’, before diving into parts one and two of ‘Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots’.
Nestled into the first half of the set was a cover of Daniel Johnston’s ‘True Love Will Find You in the End’, followed by a cover of The Chemical Brothers’ ‘The Golden Path’.
After sealing off the first half of the show with ‘Vein of Stars’, ‘All We Have Is Now’ and ‘Do You Realize??’, the band brought even more energy for ‘Race for the Prize’ and ‘She Don’t Use Jelly’.
Later on, another cover saw fans in attendance witness The Flaming Lips take on Black Sabbath’s ‘War Pigs’, before they returned for one final song, ‘A Spoonful Weighs a Ton’.
The band was on top form despite the trouble they faced last month, after cancelling an appearance in Vienna due to frontman Wayne Coyne’s hospitalisation for pneumonia.
The rockers have been keeping busy as of late, with shows all across Europe and the UK; they will next play at Latitude Festival in Henham Park, before making their way to Glasgow, Cardiff, and Brighton.
The latter show will see the musicians join Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds for their massive Brighton homecoming show at Preston Park on July 31st.
