Brighton Rock: Nick Cave confirms The Flaming Lips and English Teacher among special guests for huge homecoming show

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds have unveiled the special guests for their sold-out UK headline show at Brighton’s Preston Park, including The Flaming Lips, English Teacher, and more.

On July 31st, Cave will take to the stage in his adopted hometown for The Bad Seeds’ only UK show of the year.

They’ve now announced the Mercury Prize-winning band English Teacher, acclaimed singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon, Grammy-winning band The Flaming Lips, and indie-rockers Warmduscher will provide incredible support throughout the day.

“I am thrilled beyond words to return to my beloved Brighton with The Bad Seeds to play Preston Park. It’s a homecoming! It’s going to be big, bad, and beautiful. An epic show,” Cave has commented on the stacked line-up.

Cave will be joined by his bandmates, who include Warren Ellis, Colin Greenwood, Jim Sclavunos, George Vjestica, Larry Mullins, and Carly Paradis.

The coastal city is central to Cave’s practice, as lived there for over two decades, though he moved away following his son’s death in 2015, claiming that the space had become “too sad”.

On the day, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds will perform a setlist that draws on songs from all four decades of their storied career, including their latest album, Wild God.

Far Out gave the latest album, Wild God, a three-and-a-half star review, observing, “All told, the record is largely a unique and powerful triumph. It boldly reaches for the heavens and often grabs the odd walloping fistful.”

Recently, Cave’s 2009 book, The Death of Bunny Munro, which is set in Brighton, was adapted into a six-part television series starring Matt Smith as its central protagonist.

At the end of 2025, his song ‘Train Dreams’ from the Clint Bentley-directed movie of the same name was shortlisted for ‘Best Original Song’ at the Oscars.

Beyond their singular UK show, the coveted band will grace Dublin with their presence in June. They will also appear at numerous festivals, including NOS Alive, Mad Cool, Montreux Jazz Festival, and more.
