The Beatles tease major announcement with countdown and cryptic message
The Beatles are teasing an announcement on July 29th at 2pm BST.
Today (July 28th), at 2pm BST, The Beatles sent out an email to fans on their newsletter, as well as updating their website with the same message that was shared.
Their website now has a countdown, which will end at 2pm on July 29th, and also features the following cryptic message, “Good things come to those who Wait.”
It adds, “Exciting news is coming soon… Sign up to the official Beatles mailing list to be the first to know.”
Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the word ‘Wait’ features a capital ‘W’ rather than being listed in lower-case, which has been widely interpreted as a reference to the track ‘Wait’ from their classic 1965 album, Rubber Soul.
Notably, the album celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2025, and now, it could finally be the next Beatles record to receive the super deluxe treatment.
They have previously shared special editions of Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club, The White Album, Abbey Road, Let It Be and Revolver, which feature mixing by Giles Martin.
Speaking to Rolling Stone in 2021, Martin opened up about the challenges of a potential Rubber Soul project, conceding, “The software is getting a lot better. I’m constantly looking at how we would approach it if I ever get to [remix] Revolver or Rubber Soul, early albums, which a lot of people want me to do.”
He elaborated, “That’s a good example of, ‘How do we do that?’ How do I make sure that John or Paul’s vocal isn’t just in the right-hand speaker, but also make sure that his guitar doesn’t follow him if I put it in the center?”
Additionally, in an interview with Times Radio in 2022, to promote the Revolver re-release, Martin said, “The next one, I guess, will be Rubber Soul, but I’m certainly not working on that yet.”
Now, years on, perhaps, Martin has found a way to navigate the issues that have previously prevented him from giving Rubber Soul his special treatment in the past…
The Beatles may have split up more than 55 years ago, but with Sam Mendes’ upcoming biopics on the band, Paul McCartney again topping the charts this year, and the grand opening of 3 Savile Row in London in 2027, the interest in the Fab Four remains sky-high.
