Tayler Holder cancels tour due to mental health struggles: “I need to take a step back”
Country singer Tayler Holder has cancelled his upcoming tour, citing ongoing mental health struggles.
The musician had been travelling across North America for his When No One’s Around tour, which kicked off on May 1st, but has taken the decision to cancel all shows and take time to prioritise his mental health.
Taking to Instagram, Holder shared with his 4.5 million followers, “Over the past several months, l’ve been in a constant struggle with my mental health in ways that I can no longer ignore.”
He continued, “I’ve tried for awhile now to put my head down and just push through this and give everything l have to the music and the people who support me, but truthfully I’ve reached my limit right now and I need to take a step back and focus on getting healthy.”
While Holder said he’s “doing everything I ever dreamed of” in terms of his music career, he admitted that he “still feels so lonely” and “so unfulfilled.”
The 28-year-old then apologised to fans for the inconvenience, stressing “this decision was not made lightly” and saying he’s “deeply sorry for the disappointment this causes.”
Holder added, “I’m taking this time to rest, seek support, and reconnect with myself away from the pressure and pace of touring. My hope is that this break will allow me to return stronger, healthier, and able to give you guys the performances you deserve.”
Similarly, last year, in the country realm, Ella Langley, who is now at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 with her huge song ‘Choosin’ Texas’, cancelled a series of summer tour dates to prioritise her mental wellbeing.
At the time, Langley explained of the break, “I want to be fully present for all the moments ahead, and I know I can’t do that without first taking care of myself.”
Tom Misch also spoke about the subject in January, explaining that his prolonged absence from the music industry was due to his mental health, and revealing he was choosing not to extensively tour his new album for that same reason.
