More About Reggae

Reggae is a genre of music that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s, distinguished by its syncopated rhythms, prominent basslines and lyrics exploring themes such as love, spirituality, politics and social justice.
Among the most influential reggae artists are Bob Marley and the Wailers, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Toots and the Maytals, Burning Spear, Black Uhuru, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
Reggae evolved from ska and rocksteady by adopting a slower tempo, heavier basslines and a stronger emphasis on the offbeat rhythm, while often incorporating socially and politically conscious themes.
