More About R&B

R&B, short for Rhythm and Blues, is a genre of music that originated in African American communities during the 1940s, combining blues, jazz and gospel influences. It has since evolved into one of the world's most popular and influential musical styles.
Traditional R&B emerged before soul music and was generally more rhythm-driven, while soul placed greater emphasis on gospel-inspired vocals and emotional expression. Today, the two genres frequently overlap, particularly in contemporary music.
Some of the most influential R&B artists include Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Prince, Beyoncé, Usher, Alicia Keys, Frank Ocean and SZA.
