Harvey Weinstein is a former American film producer and former studio executive whose companies, Miramax and later The Weinstein Company, were behind many of the most acclaimed and commercially successful films of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. During his career, Weinstein was instrumental in producing and distributing award-winning films including ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Shakespeare in Love’, ‘The English Patient’, ‘The King’s Speech’ and ‘The Artist’.
In 2017, numerous women accused Weinstein of sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape, allegations that helped spark the global #MeToo movement. He has consistently denied allegations of non-consensual sexual acts.
Weinstein has since been convicted in separate criminal cases in New York and California, although some convictions have been overturned or modified on appeal while others remain in force.
