The drums we left in 2020: What happened to Pottery?
A mysterious departure.
Garage rock is a raw, energetic style of rock music that emerged in the United States and Canada during the mid-1960s, characterised by stripped-back production, distorted guitars, driving rhythms and a DIY attitude.
Originally inspired by the British Invasion and rhythm and blues, garage rock was pioneered by bands such as The Sonics, The Seeds, The Standells and The 13th Floor Elevators. The genre experienced a major revival in the late 1990s and early 2000s through artists including The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Hives, The Vines, The Black Keys and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, helping reignite mainstream interest in guitar-driven rock. Its influence can be heard across punk, indie rock, alternative rock and modern blues rock.
