Carl Barât is an English musician, singer-songwriter and actor best known as the co-frontman, guitarist and principal songwriter of the Libertines.
Alongside Pete Doherty, Barât helped spearhead the early-2000s post-punk revival with the Libertines’ raw, poetic songwriting and distinctly British sound. Following the band’s initial split, he formed Dirty Pretty Things before embarking on a solo career and later reuniting with the Libertines.
Renowned for his energetic stage presence, literary lyricism and enduring influence on British indie rock, Barât remains one of the defining figures of 21st-century UK guitar music.
