Alan McGee is a Scottish music executive, musician and entrepreneur best known as the founder of Creation Records, the influential independent label that helped define British alternative music in the 1980s and 1990s. After establishing Creation in 1983, McGee played a pivotal role in launching the careers of bands including Oasis, My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream, Ride, Teenage Fanclub and the Jesus and Mary Chain. Beyond his work as a record label executive, he has been involved in numerous music industry ventures, managed artists and performed as a musician. Regarded as one of the most influential figures in British independent music, McGee’s legacy is closely tied to the rise of shoegaze, indie rock and Britpop.
