John Cale is a Welsh musician, composer and producer best known as a founding member of the Velvet Underground and for his influential solo career.
John Cale left the Velvet Underground in 1968 after creative disagreements with Lou Reed, who wanted to pursue a more accessible songwriting approach while Cale favoured greater experimentation.
'Paris 1919' is widely regarded as John Cale's masterpiece, although 'Fear', 'Slow Dazzle', 'Vintage Violence' and 'Mercy' are also among his most acclaimed solo releases.
