Sydney Sweeney starring in and producing new religious horror ‘Immaculate’
It’s been reported that actor Sydney Sweeney will produce and star in the religious horror flick Immaculate.
Sweeney is best known for her work in the hit HBO shows Euphoria and The White Lotus. In the upcoming movie, she plays a devout woman of faith, Cecilia, who is offered a new role at a well-known Italian convent. However, her dream job tucked away in the countryside is quickly interrupted when she uncovers the sinister secrets of her new home.
Although the release date is yet to be decided, it’s been confirmed that the distributor Neon has acquired the North American rights to Immaculate, which will be produced by Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler alongside Sweeney and Jonathan Davino under her Fifty-Fifty Films project.
The film will also see several people involved in The White Lotus reunite. As well as Sweeney, this includes actor Simona Tabasco from the second season of the comedy-drama and David Bernad co-producing, who served as one of the executive producers on the hit show. Bernard developed the new movie with Sweeney.
Other stars that have been cast include Alvaro Morte of Money Heist, Dora Romano of The Hand of God and Benedetta Porcaroli, famous for the Italian Netflix show Baby.
According to Variety, principal photography for Immaculate took place in the Italian capital, Rome, earlier this year.
In other Sydney Sweeney news, the romcom that she stars in alongside Glen Powell, Anyone But You, comes to UK theatres on December 26th. It is based on William Shakespeare’s play Much Ado About Nothing.
