Steven Spielberg makes surprise appearance at Steven Spielberg pub quiz

Steven Spielberg enjoyed a pint of Guinness at a pub quiz in London last night. An ordinary night for most, but this was a Steven Spielberg pub quiz hosted at The Devonshire, and fans had no idea he was coming.

The 79-year-old director, who was joined by Colman Domingo, toasted with the crowd to the success of his forthcoming movie, Disclosure Day.

The pub quiz was hosted by TV personality Ali Plumb, who is also the official film critic for BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.

The incredible story was first shared on Plumb’s Instagram, where he posted a selfie taken at the pub, including dozens of smiling fans who had anticipated a quiet night of trivia.

The caption read, “I hosted a Steven Spielberg pub quiz, and Steven Spielberg turned up. Yep, I know, I truly, fully know.”

Other footage from the evening, shared via Instagram Stories, showed Spielberg and Domingo with a microphone, discussing their latest movie with the crowd.

Spielberg’s happy demeanour is largely down to the rave reviews his new extraterrestrial movie, Disclosure Day, has received.

Although firm details on the plot remain scant ahead of its imminent release in cinemas, it is said to chart the mass unravelling of a government conspiracy as the people fight the day of reckoning with aliens.

For a director often enmeshed in the idea of alien civilisations, Spielberg recently joked that he is “starting to believe” the conspiracy about humans having subliminal interactions with aliens.

However, the coveted filmmaker went on to clarify, “However, I made this movie independent of any influence except what I know and what I’ve been following for the last seven decades.”

Alongside Domingo, the star-studded cast includes Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and McKenna Bridger.

Disclosure Day is set to be released in cinemas on June 12th, 2026.
