Steven Spielberg unveils trailer for new UFO movie, ‘Disclosure Day’, starring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor
Steven Spielberg has unveiled the first trailer for his new UFO movie and confirmed the title as Disclosure Day.
The upcoming movie is set to star Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
Disclosure Day, which has been developed by Spielberg alongside his longtime collaborator David Koepp, is set to be released in cinemas on June 12th, 2026.
The synopsis for the film reads, “If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to… Disclosure Day.
“If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you?,” is also heard in a haunting voiceover at the beginning of the trailer.
Then, Blunt’s character is shown to be a meteorologist delivering a weather report on television when she suffers a strange episode and appears to be taken over.
Audiences are then greeted by O’Connor’s character, who has made it his mission to tell the world the truth about the extraterrestrial life form wreaking havoc on humanity. He states in the clip, “People have a right to know the truth, it belongs to seven billion people”.
Disclosure Day isn’t the first time that Spielberg has flirted with UFO themes within his work. Most famously, he directed E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, but has also made Close Encounters of the Third Kind and War of the Worlds.
In 1977, Spielberg once said of his interest in all things extra terrestrial, “There have been enough sober reports from very reliable, multiple witnesses, individuals who have all seen these things all over the world not just in this country but all through Canada all through France all through Brazil, Australia you name it”.
In October, it was confirmed that legendary composer John Williams had created the soundtrack for Disclosure Day.
