Steven Spielberg confirms ‘Disclosure Day’ was not made with extraterrestrial help from the “deep state”
There is much speculation still swirling about Disclosure Day, the latest sci-fi epic from Steven Spielberg, but the director has thankfully confirmed that the film was not made with the help of the “deep state”.
Very little is known about the plot of the film at this stage, but it features an all-star cast including Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo in a fight against time and conspiracy theories, as the world is faced with an alien and UFO reckoning for the ages.
However, when appearing on the latest episode of The Rewatchables podcast, primarily celebrating the legacy of Stanley Kubrick’s iconic 2001: A Space Odyssey, Spielberg turned his attention to his own latest film, ironically shutting down a rumour mill upon which the movie is based.
“The biggest urban legend that is occurring right now involves my movie coming out, Disclosure Day, that somehow I have made this movie in concert with deep state factions,” the legendary director explained.
Linking this to similar conspiracies thrown about regarding the Kubrick classic, he added: “I remember there’s a moment in 2001: A Space Odyssey where he talks about the grave dangers of social dislocation and that my movie is going to somehow make it easier for people to accept the fact that we have been actively interacting in secret with extraterrestrials for the past eight to nine decades.”
However, Spielberg jokingly questioned the notion as he continued: “Am I starting to believe that? Yes, I am. However, I made this movie independent of any influence except what I know and what I’ve been following for the last seven decades.”
When asked by the host whether he believes that alleged deep state actors could be legitimate and “have a point”, the filmmaker replied: “Perhaps they do.”
Of course, Spielberg is no stranger to exploring the realms of science fiction in his movies, being responsible for some of the greatest movie classics of all time, such as ET: The Extra-Terrestrial and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
But despite the fact he said he was inspired to make Disclosure Day based on a 2017 New York Times article based on the Pentagon’s supposed UFO programme, it seems the government’s space-age secrets have not yet been uncovered by him.
Disclosure Day is set for release in cinemas from June 12th, 2026.
