St Vincent to release new single ‘DOA’
St Vincent is set to release a sinister new single, which will appear on the soundtrack of the upcoming A24 film Death of a Unicorn, starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega.
The track, ‘DOA’, will be released on March 28th, the same day the film is released in the US. It was teased in a short clip posted to Instagram on March 20th promoting the movie, combining stealthy synths with the singer’s typical eclectic sound.
It comes as St Vincent is set to embark on a UK and European tour this summer in celebration of her most recent album All Born Screaming, which was released in April 2024.
She picked up three Grammy Awards for the album back in February, including ‘Best Alternative Music Album’ and ‘Best Rock Song’ for its single ‘Broken Man’.
St Vincent is also headed for the Glastonbury stage this year, where she will appear on June 29th.
For the part of Death of a Unicorn, the comedy follows father and daughter pair Elliot and Ridley – played by Rudd and Ortega – as they accidentally hit and kill a mythical creature on their way to a weekend retreat.
Joining the two actors in the ensemble cast of the film is the likes of Richard E Grant, Will Poulter, Anthony Carrigan, and Jessica Hynes.
The movie marks Alex Scharfman’s debut as a director, where he also wrote the script. It is being executive produced by lead stars Rudd and Ortega alongside Ari Aster.
It comes at a peak time for producers A24, whose other upcoming projects include Friendships, in which Rudd also stars and is set to come out in May.
Death of a Unicorn will be released in the US on March 28th and in the UK on April 4th.
