Saturday nights keep getting louder, with Foo Fighters set to perform on SNL UK

Foo Fighters have been announced as the latest musical guests set to take to Saturday Night Live UK, with Nicola Coughlan and Aimee Lou Wood also set to host the next two episodes.

The next instalment in the line-up for the series was announced on April 14th, following the success of its first four episodes. Comedian Jack Whitehall took on hosting duties in the most recent episode, while British singer Jorja Smith provided the music.

However, the series is set to proceed with an even more star-studded billing, with Coughlan hosting alongside the Foo Fighters as musical guests on April 25th, before White Lotus star Wood takes over the following week with Meek, on May 2nd.

Since its launch at the start of this month, the British version of the American sketch show has become a hit on Sky One, with SNL veteran Tina Fey having opened proceedings as the host on the first episode.

During her opening monologue, the comedian said she grew up thinking that “watching anything British was educational”, claiming to have enjoyed the work of iconic comedian Benny Hill before honouring a series of popular British comedy shows, including Keeping Up Appearances, Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served?, Monty Python, and EastEnders.

When exclusively speaking to Far Out ahead of the first episode, cast member Hammed Animashaun said: “Tina’s incredible. We’ve been so privileged and honoured to have her as part of the team. The stamp that she left on SNL and continues to leave on that institution is something that you can’t ignore.”

Over the course of the series, music has been provided by Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, and Kasabian, although Foo Fighters are undoubtedly the most high-profile offering the show has bagged to date.

The band’s appearance on SNL UK comes ahead of the release of their 12th studio album Your Favourite Toy on April 24th, after which they will return to the UK for two dates this summer at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium.

Shortly after releasing the album, Grohl and Co. will head Stateside for a string of US dates, before returning to perform in Europe this June.
