Primavera 2026: Olivia Rodrigo to perform surprise set

Olivia Rodrigo is joining Primavera Sound for a surprise set on the very last night of what has proven to be a tumultuous 2026 edition.

The Barcelona festival, which kicked off in earnest on June 4th, was thrown into chaos on the first day as strong winds and rain saw sets from the likes of Alex G, Massive Attack, Doja Cat, and Mac DeMarco cancelled.

Apologising for the chaos, the festival shared a statement which read, in part, “We understand and share the frustration and disappointment of the audience regarding this situation, which is not what we had hoped for on the first day of Primavera Sound Barcelona 2026″.

Now, in one final bold move to keep festival-goers happy, the organisers have announced a surprise performance from none other than global superstar, Rodrigo.

Rodrigo won’t be performing on either of the biggest stages, Estrella Damm or Revolut. Instead, sandwiched between Marina and Ashnikko, the ‘Driver’s Licence’ singer will perform on the Occident Stage at 22:25 local time.

The announcement was made by way of their social media, which simply added the statement “Spilling our guts” to the shocking reveal.

Unfortunately, the only downside to Rodrigo’s surprise performance is that attendees will be forced to choose between the sugary-sweet pop melodies and the shoegaze euphoria of My Bloody Valentine, who will play on the Estrella Damm stage at the same time.

Rodrigo is currently in the lead-up to the release of her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So In Love, which is due to arrive on June 12th through Geffen Records.

The young star is also set to begin a huge world tour in North America in September, which will keep her on the road until May 2027.

After Rodrigo’s surprise performance, the approximately 71,000 fans on the ground will have the chance to see the likes of Gorillaz, The XX, Kneecap, Knocked Loose, and Peggy Gou.
