Primavera 2026: Doja Cat announces cancellation of set amid weather conditions

Doja Cat has become the latest artist to have her set cancelled at Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona.

The annual festival, which began yesterday, June 3rd, has been plagued by adverse weather conditions in the Catalonian city. Earlier this evening, performances by Alex G and Mac DeMarco were cancelled as a result of the weather, with the festival official Instagram page confirming the news.

“Due to adverse weather conditions, Alex G’s performance on the Revolut Stage has been cancelled and Mac DeMarco’s performance on the Occident Stage have been cancelled,” the festival’s social media post read.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and will keep you informed as soon as we have further updates,” the statement went on. Despite that cancellation, scheduled sets later on in the day were still due to take place.

Now, Doja Cat, who was due to headline the Revolut Stage, confirmed on X that her set would no longer go ahead.

She wrote, “Unfortunately it is cancelled due to weather. I mean what I said in the post prior. Giant hugs tears and kisses to you all tonight.”

The star previously wrote minutes prior, “Barcelona i am fully dressed and ready to go to stage but it’s just not safe enough to continue the show tonight. I’m so sorry that this is how this shit has to be right now. I will think of everything I can under the sun to make it up to you. Please stay safe and warm I will see you again I promise.”

Doja has been providing updates throughout the evening on X, including the earlier post hours before the cancellation was confirmed, “THE WEATHER IN BARCELONA IS NOT LOOKING GREAT AT THE MOMENT BUT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG I WILL SEARCH FOR A PLAN B.” Adding, “THIS RAIN WONT STOP OUR FUN”.

Since then, those on the ground at the festival have reportedly been ushered to leave the festival grounds. Although the festival’s official channels have yet to confirm the cancellation of the headline sets, or provide any update on the remainder of the event, commenters on Primavera’s Instagram page point to widespread confusion on the ground.

“People are just walking round with nowhere to go,” one commenter wrote, while another added, “No official update and forcing people to leave main stages it’s completely unsafe.”

Meanwhile, some criticised the festival’s organisation, with multiple users complaining about the exits from the site. “Blocking the exits is not ok behaviour, Primavera,” one comment reads. “We were fenced in like cattle, this could have gotten dangerous.”

However, the festival has confirmed that Massive Attack will still perform at 12:30am on the Estrella Damn Stage.

This is a developing story…
