Pitbull smashes Guinness World Record at triumphant BST Hyde Park show

Pitbull has secured a Guinness World Record at his BST Hyde Park show in London for gathering the largest number of people wearing bald caps simultaneously.

The event also saw Mr Worldwide rake in another record, as he headlined the highest-attended show in the history of American Express presents BST Hyde Park, drawing an eye-watering 69,999 to the British capital.

At 5:00pm local time, the Guinness World Record was verified after officials, led by BBC Radio 1’s Greg James, counted a total of 22,141 bald cap-wearing fans in the crowd. The number was reportedly counted by 400 volunteers, as well as “drone footage with 42 counters backstage”.

Pitbull himself had to wear a bald cap to be included in the count, as it was not a gathering of the largest number of bald people, but rather of people wearing bald caps.

When the numbers were confirmed, Guinness World Records Adjudicator Will Munford then presented the certificate to the 45-year-old performer Pitbull before he went on stage.

Beginning on a high, Pitbull then took to the Great Oak Stage for a 20-song set crammed with chart-toppers like ‘Hotel Room Service’, ‘International Love’, and ‘Don’t Stop The Party’.

“Who would have ever thought a first-generation Cuban would be able to be in London record-breaking and record-making one for the Guinness Book of World Records,” the beloved rapper, whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, told reporters, as per the BBC.

In celebration of the crowd’s commitment to the record in the blazing heat, during his set, Pitbull performed the Oasis hit ‘Wonderwall’, which has regained popularity as an unofficial anthem for England during the World Cup.

Earlier in the day, ‘Pass Out’ rapper Tinie Tempah also performed on the iconic stage, as well as pop star Kesha and rapper Lil Jon, who both eventually joined Pitbull on stage for their collaborations.
