Paul McCartney finally admits The Beatles are the “greatest band ever”
Paul McCartney passed up a serving of humble pie, and instead deemed The Beatles the “greatest band ever”, reminiscing on the “phenomenal” quartet he was a part of in a new TikTok Live.
The 83-year-old performer has gotten stuck into a host of new social media marketing techniques for his forthcoming album.
During a TikTok Live video on May 27th, the musician responded to a series of queries sent in by fans. When asked to reflect on the legacy of the Liverpudlian group, he conceded, “It is phenomenal, it is really phenomenal.”
Taking a walk down memory lane, he added, “When we started out we were just kids and rock and roll was just really coming in and we thought, ‘if we’re lucky, we’ve got a couple of years’ – that’s how long people normally lasted. They couldn’t really sustain much more after that.”
Therefore, McCartney admitted, the group expected to excel in the limelight for maybe “five years max”. To their surprise, ” hat became 10, and we were kind of still going and the scene’s still there. Then it became 20, then 30, and now it’s right up there. It’s great, it is a lovely feeling.”
He went on proudly, “People will come to me and say ‘my kids love your music’, and that’s something, you know, because you can’t indoctrinate (kids), they just either like it or they don’t.”
McCartney is firmly in the Team Beatle camp, adding to the thousands of people watching the Q&A live: “I think The Beatles were the greatest band ever. I’m a fan.”
McCartney has been busy outside of the pixellated world of TikTok Live. The world’s most famous vegetarian, will soon appear on Amelia Dimoldenberg’s long-running Chicken Shop Date series.
In a four-star review of the new album, Far Out gave McCartney four stars, observing, “No matter where he’s been, he knows where he came from, to borrow a phrase, and it’s generally quite rewarding to go time-travelling with him, even if we’ll never be able to fully separate the man from the Beatle.”
