Paramore admit there is “a level of uncertainty” after finishing record deal

Paramore have been on cloud nine since the release of their sixth album, This Is Why. However, the band have now revealed there is a “level of uncertainty” about their future due to their record deal coming to an end.

After forming in 2004, Paramore have had many iterations. Over the years, members have left and changed as the band evolved. In 2015, lead singer Hayley Williams even left the band privately, with interpersonal problems causing issues for the rock act.

However, the trio of Williams, Taylor York and Zac Farro are currently at the top of their game. Their latest album, This Is Why, led to a massive influx of fresh attention, giving the band their biggest year to date.

Having recently wrapped up a world tour, the band are set to hit the road again next year as they support Taylor Swift on her record-breaking Eras Tour in the UK and EU.

Reflecting on the end of the year, the end of the tour and the recent album as a whole, Paramore appear to be in a season of flux. In conversation with Uproxx, the band revealed they’ve now completed their record deal obligations, meaning they’re free agents.

Whether they will re-sign to Atlantic, sign to a new major label or strike out on their own is unknown, leaving the band with a “level of uncertainty” about the future.

Williams is quick to reassure fans that they will be staying together, stating, “The only thing that matters is we will still get to be each other’s community.”

Either way, the band has no plans to slow down or stop. Instead, they hope to keep the momentum growing as drummer Zac Farro added, “I just hope we can keep building the Paramore empire and then rule the world.”
