Ozzy Osbourne’s death certificate lists the greatest occupation of all time
Following the death of the icon Ozzy Osbourne last month, aged 76, his official death certificate has been updated by his daughter, Aimée Osbourne, to reflect her father’s unparalleled life and legacy.
The document revealed his official cause of death, which was listed as “acute myocardial infarction” – typically referring to the death of tissue resulting from a failure of blood supply to an organ – and “out-of-hospital cardiac arrest”.
In addition to listing his cardiac arrest and coronary artery disease among the causes, it also noted that he suffered from Parkinson’s disease.
Initially, his family announced his death on July 22nd. The statement was signed by his wife, Sharon, and his four children. They delivered the news with “more sadness than mere words can convey,” and wrote that Ozzy died “surrounded by love”.
If this wasn’t proof enough, the eldest daughter of Ozzy and Sharon, Aimée, has added a special detail to her father’s official death certificate to honour him. She listed his occupation as “songwriter, performer and rock legend.”
At a huge Black Sabbath farewell show in Birmingham, Ozzy’s legendary life was celebrated on July 5th, not three weeks before his passing. The show at Villa Park marked the first time Bill Ward, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Osbourne performed together in over two decades, bringing the band’s story to a storybook ending as the original four members reunited in their hometown.
In a fitting end to a life lived to the full and enjoyed by the public, the show was hailed as one of the most important moments in rock history in recent times. All proceeds from the extravaganza were shared between Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice. It raised almost $200 million for the three charities.
Ozzy’s funeral was held on July 31st in Buckinghamshire. A day earlier, a hearse carrying the singer-songwriter travelled down Broad Street in Birmingham as tens of thousands of fans paid their respect from the side of the road. Cars containing the Osbourne family followed.
Shortly afterwards, Sharon Osbourne left the vehicle, accompanied by her children Jack, Aimée, Kelly, and Ozzy’s son, Louis, as they paid their respects to the shrine of the Black Sabbath frontman.
Then, after Birmingham honoured their hometown hero, Osbourne’s funeral took place at the family’s home near Gerrards Cross at a private service. The rock legend was buried, as he requested, near a lake at their sprawling 250-acre property in rural England.
