Olympics 2024: Watch Red Hot Chili Peppers perform at the closing ceremony
After an extended period of some of the most spectacular sporting events of the year, ranging from Novak Djokovic’s emotional Gold medal win to Armand Duplantis’ jaw-dropping pole vault efforts, the Olympics 2024 closing ceremony has put an appropriate end to the defining moment of the summer.
Even though there was a conservative backlash following the LGBTQ+ themes incorporated in the opening ceremony this year, the closing event managed to attract a massive viewership and it is all thanks to the lineup full of big names.
As the countdown begins to the LA Olympics in 2028, Phoenix, H.E.R. and Tom Cruise took to the stage to make the closing ceremony truly memorable for audiences.
A special group of LA representatives were also present among the performers, including Billie Eilish and Snoop Dogg, who moved the crowd with their rousing appearances.
Within that group, the Red Hot Chili Peppers also stood out, with a version of ‘Can’t Stop’ from their album By the Way. In a previous interview, Flea said: “I started recording most of my parts for By The Way in February.”
Adding, “I actually probably enjoy being in the studio more than being onstage, just because you can take one moment and capture it for infinity just by pressing the ‘Record’ button. That’s a wonderful powerful feeling for me.”
Although the band might prefer the studio recordings more than onstage performances, their appearance at the Olympics closing ceremony was still worthy of the occasion.
