Oasis ticket prices soar to over £3,500 for opening night

The long-awaited Oasis reunion tour saw 14million fans attempt to buy 1.5million UK tickets; now, tickets for opening night are soaring into the thousands as opening night is just hours away.

The show will kick off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, where almost 75,000 fans from all over the world will gather to see the Britpop brothers’ first show in 16 years following an explosive split in 2009.

Seats for the opening show, only hours away, are being listed for between £265 and £3,550 after fees. At the time of writing, 74 last-minute tickets remain at the inflated price.

The ticket prices for the show have been much contested, as Ticketmaster was threatened with legal action over how it sold more than 900,000 tickets for the comeback tour. Ticketmaster had not previously told fans that there were two pricing categories for standing tickets, which left many waiting in queues for several hours in the hope of acquiring £149 tickets, only to later discover the price was much higher once they reached checkout.

Oasis will also play the same venue on July 5th; over 200 tickets are available on Stubhub for the second show. Then, the band will play several dates at Heaton Park in Manchester, Wembley Stadium in London, Croke Park in Dublin, and Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.

Earlier this week, Noel Gallagher appeared on the breakfast show on talkSPORT to share information about the upcoming tour. “We finished rehearsing last Tuesday,” the guitarist shared. “We’ve got a few days off now and it’s sounding huge, so we’re all, ‘well this is it, there’s no going back now’. It’s good.”

Doors will open at 5pm, with Cast set to take to the stage at 6pm before Richard Ashcroft performs at 7pm, and Oasis finally make their return after 16 years away at 8.15pm. The curfew at the Principality is 10:15pm.
