Oasis add more dates to international tour

It seems as though the incredible demand for Oasis tickets is something that unites music fans on both sides of the Atlantic. Shortly after announcing the North American leg of their long-awaited reunion tour, Manchester’s Britpop heroes have revealed that more dates will be added to the roster across the continent due to “phenomenal demand.”

Initially, Oasis announced a run of North American tour dates earlier this week, following on from the pandemonium created over the planned run of shows in the UK and Ireland next summer. The band announced shows for Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Los Angeles, and Mexico City, and the newly revealed update to the tour means Oasis will now play two nights at each of these venues, except Chicago.

Alongside the tour announcement, the band also confirmed that indie rock band Cage The Elephant would be supporting them across the North American tour, which sees them visit some of the largest venues across the continent. At the time of writing, no support acts have been fully confirmed for the run of dates in the UK and Ireland, though there are countless rumours floating around.

Another way in which the American tour will differ to its English counterpart is the ticket pricing. The band caused some controversy when tickets for the shows in the UK and Ireland were sold on Ticketmaster with dynamic pricing enabled. This meant that, for a large portion of fans, standing tickets that were initially marketed at £148 suddenly became £355 due to the fact that they were in-demand.

Ahead of the sale of tickets for the American dates, which are due to go on sale on October 4th, the band shared a statement which confirmed, “Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing model will not be applied to the forthcoming sale of tickets to Oasis concerts in North America.”

Despite the decision to abandon dynamic pricing for this run of shows, Oasis maintain that implementing the policy for their UK dates was not a mistake, saying, “it is widely accepted that dynamic pricing remains a useful tool to combat ticket touting and jeep prices for a significant proportion of fans lower than the market rate and thus more affordable.” However, they did note that the policy becomes “less effective” when there is an unprecedented level of ticket demand.

Ticket prices for the North American leg of Oasis’ world tour have yet to be announced, although there are a variety of estimates which land anywhere from $75 to $375. If the higher end of that scale turns out to be accurate, then the American ticket prices will not be all that different from the dynamic pricing tickets of the UK and Ireland.
