Noel Gallagher says Oasis fans are “best in the world” and confirms he’s “back at work”
Noel Gallagher has heaped praise upon Oasis fans, declaring them as the “best in the world”.
In a recent interview with BBC 5 Live, which aired on January 16th ahead of the Manchester Derby at the weekend, Gallagher reflected on his unforgettable year with Oasis, which began in Cardiff in July and concluded in Sâo Paulo in November.
Looking back at their residency at Heaton Park in Manchester, which saw thousands of ticketless fans gather each night at Gallagher Hill, Noel said, “Oasis fans are the best in the world. They’re the most loyal, and the fact that there was an arena-sized crowd outside the venue every night was just amazing, you know what I mean? And hats off to them.”
He added of Oasis’ gesture honouring those at Gallagher Hill, “We gave away a few T-shirts, and we put the video screen up there towards the end of the run, but they were amazing.”
On a wholesome note, Noel also said of being able to share the tour with his children, who attended almost every date of the run, sharing, “They went from never seeing Oasis once, to seeing Oasis 38 times in six months, which has got to be some kind of record. They loved it.”
Noel revealed how the famous faces in the crowds at the shows, such as a chunk of the Manchester City squad, further got him into his children’s good books and explained how they were “buzzing just kind of seeing it all”.
He added, “And I didn’t think they thought I was that cool until halfway through, they were like, ‘God, he knows John McEnroe as well, what’s going on here?’ So I’m well worthy of the ‘Dad Of The Year’ mug that I got for Christmas.”
Looking ahead to the future, Noel said about his imminent plans to return to work, stating, “The holiday was good. But, yeah, back at work on Monday. So it’s all good, mate. It’s all been going great.”
While Gallagher didn’t disclose precisely what his work will entail upon going back to the studio today, there is an official film in the works that will document Oasis’ heroic comeback tour in 2025.
Notably, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is behind the authorised upcoming documentary on the Oasis reunion, and is also writing the next James Bond film.
During a recent appearance on TalkSPORT, Noel responded to speculation that Oasis could be in line to record the soundtrack for the upcoming 007 film, which is currently in the pre-production stage. He admitted, “What for Oasis to do it? Absolutely. Of course. It would be an absolute honour, and I think those kind of things should be done by Brits not Yanks.”
However, Gallagher did confirm that no contact has been made to Oasis.
Although rumours of more Oasis gigs being announced remain in full flow, they have yet to confirm any dates for 2026.
