Oasis celebrate fans on final Manchester night with gifted ‘Gallagher Hill’ T-shirts

On the closing night of their highly anticipated homecoming shows in Manchester, Oasis celebrated their fans unable to get tickets to Heaton Park by handing out ‘Gallagher Hill’ T-shirts to those outside of the venue.

The merchandise paid homage to the hill outside Heaton Park, where fans have gathered over the course of the band’s five concerts to get a glimpse of the show, despite Manchester City Council’s attempt to fence the area off earlier in the week.

However, on both the Britpop legends’ penultimate and final nights in the city, Liam Gallagher dedicated the song ‘Bring It On Down’ to “the folk on the hill,” thus endorsing the fans who didn’t have tickets to still watch on.

Subsequently, when the final show of their five-night stint rolled around on July 20th, fans gathered in the area were gifted with special T-shirts from the brothers themselves, dubbed ‘Gallagher Hill’ for the sheer volume of crowds who had gathered there.

With only 1,000 T-shirts up for grabs, fans had to be fast to grab a piece of the memorabilia, with Noel Gallagher’s daughter Anais also advertising via her Instagram Stories that they were being handed out.

Later, when the concert had started, the band also paid tribute to the fans on ‘Gallagher Hill’ by filming them and casting the video into Heaton Park, with Liam proclaiming: “We’re going live to fucking ‘Gallagher Hill.’”

Elsewhere, the band were also keen to acknowledge the spirit of their home city on their final night, as Noel told the crowd both inside and outside the park: “For the last ten days the eyes of the world have been on this city of Manchester and I just want to say to all Mancunians you’ve done yourself fucking proud. You’ve still fucking got it Manchester.”

The Oasis reunion tour will resume on July 25th, with the band moving to London for their first stint at Wembley Stadium, where they will play seven shows.
