Police issue statement after drunk driving arrests made at Oasis’ fourth Heaton Park show
After the fourth of five huge Oasis shows at Heaton Park, Greater Manchester Police announced that they had made 14 new arrests, including drink driving arrests.
There was decent concern surrounding the Saturday night show. The area had a yellow thunderstorm weather warning and a Billie Eilish performance going ahead down the road at Co-Op Live. The show could’ve easily led to disaster.
Nonetheless, things ran smoothly for the huge amounts of security and police ensuring continued safety throughout the afternoon and evening. Greater Manchester Police said in a statement issued after the gig: “We’re pleased to report the penultimate Manchester #OasisLive25 event has concluded without any major incidents.”
However, they did reveal that 14 arrests had occurred. They wrote, “Officers made 14 arrests for offences including fraud, drunk driving, and assault. We’ll be back for the final event tomorrow.”
Following the first concert at Heaton Park last week, police confirmed the arrests of six individuals for offences ranging from suspicion of fraud to intent to sell cannabis to drunk and disorderly behaviour. Nine arrests were made at the next show, and 12 were made at their third night at Heaton Park. The fourteen added arrests from July 19th make this a total of 41 arrests in a sea of almost 300,000 people.
Oasis return for one more night at Heaton Park on July 20th. As with all of the shows so far in Manchester, doors open at Heaton Park at 15:00 with music set to begin at 18:00 when Cast take to the stage. At 19:00, The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft will perform before Oasis deliver their catalogue of hits at 20:15.
Fans who wish they were seeing the musicians live can listen to an official live recording of ‘Slide Away’ from their first concert in Cardiff, which captures the energy of their performance and Liam Gallagher’s astounding vocals on the classic track.
