Neil Gaiman dropped by publisher amid sexual assault allegations
A publisher of Neil Gaiman’s comic books and graphic novels has confirmed it has cancelled all upcoming releases. This news comes following multiple sexual assault allegations brought forward against Gaiman, the writer behind series such as Good Omens and Netflix‘s The Sandman.
Dark Horse Comics, who have been heavily involved in the Anansi Boys series and were set to publish more comics documenting the story, have confirmed that they will not proceed with these plans. Anansi Boys was a spin-off of one of Gaiman’s most popular novels, American Gods. The stories follow the adventures of two children of the African trickster God Anansi.
In a social media post on January 25th, the publisher wrote, “Dark Horse takes seriously the allegations against Neil Gaiman, they continued, “And we are no longer publishing his works.”
Gaiman was initially accused of sexual misconduct by two women in the summer of 2024. Gaiman denied these allegations; however, in a recent report published by Vulture, Gaiman has received serious allegations from multiple women.
One of the women who claimed Gaiman sexually assaulted her is Scarlett Pavlovich, who initially became friends with Gaiman’s now ex-wife, Amanda Palmer, which led to her moving in with the family and becoming a nanny to their children. Pavlovich states that after moving into the house, she was subject to multiple instances of sexual abuse as Gaiman forced her to do things she didn’t consent to.
Kendra Stout, also featured in the report, claims that she met Gaiman at an event in Florida in 2003. She states that he pressured her into rough sex on more than one occasion. In total, eight women have brought forward claims that allege Neil Gaiman of sexual misconduct.
Gaiman continues to deny all of the allegations of sexual assault. The writer claimed he has “never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever.”
In a blog post, Gaiman shared, “I’ve stayed quiet until now, both out of respect for the people who were sharing their stories and out of a desire not to draw even more attention to a lot of misinformation.”
He continued, “As I read through this latest collection of accounts, there are moments I half recognise and moments I don’t, descriptions of things that happened sitting beside things that emphatically did not happen.”
