Morrissey tour to resume after shows cancelled following death threat arrest

Morrissey‘s North American tour being played by is set to resume after being previously forced to cancel two shows after a man was arrested for death threats made against him.

The former Smiths frontman scrapped two concerts at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, on September 19th and at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 20th, after a “credible threat” was made against his life.

The news of the cancellations was announced in a post on the singer’s Facebook page at the time, which said: “In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and audience, tonight’s engagement at Foxwoods has been cancelled. We appreciate your understanding.”

However, a new post made on Morrissey’s Instagram on September 22nd revealed that the US tour is shortly set to recommence, as the caption noted: “We are pleased to announce that the tour will resume on September 23rd in Philadelphia.”

The musician will continue his tour at The Met Philadelphia after a 26-year-old man, named Noah Castellano, was arrested and then released on bail for posting a death threat to Morrissey on the social media platform BlueSky.

An account named “guy who gets shot in the head one hundred thousand times a day” reportedly made a post on September 4th that matches the description listed in the court documents, which reads, “Steven Patrick Morrissey when you perform at TD Place here in Ottawa next week on the evening of September 12th, 2025 at about 9pm, I will be present at the venue in the audience and I will attempt to shoot you many times and kill you with a very large gun that I own illegally.”

Despite the threat, Morrissey continued to play his shows as planned across the US and Canada, until the gigs that were cancelled a week after the date specified in the original post.

It comes as the latest in a litany of shows that have been cancelled for various reasons over the course of the singer’s current world tour, with a string of dates in Europe having been scrapped earlier this year due to him suffering from severe sinusitis.
