Morrissey shares tracklist for new album

Morrissey has shared a tracklist for a surprise new album on his official website.

On December 19th, the singer announced that he had signed with Sire Records after leaving Capitol Records in 2022, marking the end of three years without a label.

The Mancunian has not released a studio album since I Am Not a Dog on a Chain, which arrived via BMG in 2020. He subsequently left the label and signed with Capitol Records.

Following this, he announced a new project, titled Bonfire of Teenagers, in 2022, before parting ways with Capitol. As a result, the album is yet to materialise.

To celebrate Christmas Day, on December 25th, Morrissey uploaded a 12-track list of song titles without any other context onto his website.

However, it appears that the project will not be the previously promised Bonfire of Teenagers album, as the tracklist does not include ‘Rebels Without Applause’, the one single previously released from that project.

Morrissey has hinted at another album before. In 2024, he told Medium that he had completed a second album: “The second one was re-recorded in France in late 2023, and given a new title.”

He went on, “We scrapped half of the tracks, and we recorded six new ones, and so it is not the album from the beginning of 2023.”

In contrast, Bonfire of Teenagers was recorded between 2020 and 2021. In an interview with The Telegraph in 2024, Morrissey claimed that a major reason was due to the content of the title track, which was written about the Manchester bombing in 2017 at an Ariana Grande concert.

Additionally, during a show in New Jersey in November 2024, he lamented his current situation in the music industry, telling the crowd, “As you know, nobody will release my music anymore. As you know because I’m a chief exponent of free speech. In England at least, it’s now criminalised.”

Recently, he confirmed details of a European tour in 2026, including a date at The O2 Arena in London on February 28th.
