Morrissey confirms return to the UK for new arena tour

Morrissey has confirmed a run of arena dates in the UK later this year.

Previously, the former frontman of The Smiths headlined London’s O2 Arena on February 28th, which marked the only UK show in support of his recent album, Make-Up Is A Lie, but he’ll be coming back for more in the winter.

Moz will be kicking things off at the Brighton Centre on December 6th, followed by a date at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena on December 10th, before visiting Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena on December 12th.

He will then land in Glasgow on December 16th for a show at the Hydro, before ending the run in Leeds at the First Direct Arena on December 19th.

It’s all well and good that the UK tour dates are spaced out with room for recuperation between shows after his hellish experience in Valencia during Las Fallas festivities in March.

After being kept awake the night before the show by revellers, he released the following statement: “Tonight’s scheduled show in Valencia has been rendered impossible due to sleep deprivation. Morrissey drove from Milan to Valencia but has been unable to rest in Valencia due to noise.”

Morrissey later said that his hotel was an “indescribable hell”, before adding, “It will take me one year to recover. And that is an understatement.”

He will also play a date in Paris on December 3rd, as well as visiting Tilburg on December 28th and Brussels on New Year’s Eve.

This summer, Morrissey will embark on a more extensive European tour, which will see him visit cities including Berlin, Warsaw, Budapest, Llujiblana, and Porto.

His busy schedule also includes a five-night residency in Las Vegas in August ahead of another North American tour, including a headline performance at CBGB Festival alongside Patti Smith and Interpol.

Tickets for Morrissey’s latest UK dates will go on general sale on May 22nd at 9am.
