Morrissey confirms new European tour, including New Year’s Eve concert in Brussels

Morrissey has confirmed plans for a new European tour in support of his latest album, Make-Up Is A Lie.

The former frontman of The Smiths recently concluded his last lap of the continent in March, which included a stand-alone UK date at the O2 Arena in London.

Now, he has revealed his next batch of dates, which will kick off on June 27th in Lillestrom, Norway, followed by dates in July in Rattvik and Gothenburg in Sweden.

Then, he’ll visit Berlin, Warsaw, Budapest, Llujiblana, before heading to Italy for shows in Lake Como and Asti.

In Spain, Morrissey will perform in Barcelona and Madrid in late July before closing the summer run at the Super Bock Arena in Porto on August 1st.

Then, in December, Morrissey will hit the road in Europe once more, beginning his jaunt in Paris on December 3rd, before taking a break until December 28th, when he’ll play in Tilburg, Netherlands.

Lastly, Morrissey will be concluding his tour on New Year’s Eve in Brussels, which is being billed as “a festive New Year’s Eve with a live show, countdown, and DJ sets after midnight.”

Morrissey being in the vicinity of fireworks on New Year’s Eve could potentially be a recipe for disaster, following his recent experience in Valencia during Las Fallas, which is an annual week-long celebration of festivities.

After being kept awake the night before the show, he released the following statement, “Tonight’s scheduled show in Valencia has been rendered impossible due to sleep deprivation. Morrissey drove from Milan to Valencia but has been unable to rest in Valencia due to noise.”

Morrissey later said that his hotel was an “indescribable hell”, before adding, “It will take me one year to recover. And that is an understatement.”

He did manage to return to the stage later that week and complete his European tour, despite saying a recovery would take him a year.
