Millie Bobby Brown exits Netflix movie ‘Perfect’ over alleged “creative differences”
Millie Bobby Brown has exited Perfect, a Netflix sports drama that will no longer go ahead after the Stranger Things star pulled out over alleged “creative differences”.
The movie was slated to go into production this summer, but will now be scrapped altogether following Brown’s exit.
As reported by Deadline, Brown was set to play the Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug in the sports drama. Both Netflix and Brown’s representatives had no comment on her surprise departure.
Other big names in the industry were attached to the project, such as Gia Coppola in the director’s seat and Ronnie Sandahl behind the script. However, Coppola had also removed herself from the project recently.
The plot of the movie would follow Strug, who was a member of the 1996 USA women’s gymnastics team, who were labeled ‘The Magnificent Seven’. Famously, Strug showed remarkable resilience after performing the vault despite having a painful ankle injury.
That routine led to one of the most famous images in Olympic history: Strug landed perfectly, after which her ankle gave out, and her coach, Bela Karolyi, was forced to carry her off the mat.
Brown is still slated to appear in several different forthcoming Netflix projects. She will star in Enola Holmes 3, following two well-received films that depicted Brown as Sherlock Holmes’ intelligent younger sister.
Additionally, the 22-year-old will also appear in Just Picture It and Nineteen Steps, which is an adaptation of Brown’s debut novel.
Notably, Brown worked closely with Netflix on the beloved sci-fi series Stranger Things, which enjoyed a climactic series finale in December last year.
After reports began surfacing which suggested that Brown accused her co-star, David Harbour, of on-set harassment, Brown last hit the headlines with a statement that reassured fans, “David and I have a great relationship. We work really closely together in the scenes and in preparing for the scenes.”
