Mike D announces new North American, UK and Europe tour
The Beastie Boys’ Mike D has announced a new batch of our dates for later this year.
His live band, called Mike D’s 5D, which consists of Mike, his sons Skyler and Davis Diamond, Eddie Ruscha, Will Graefe and Milo Ruscha, will be returning to the UK in October.
Firstly, Mike D’s 5D will kick off his tour with a short run of East Coast solo dates, which were announced in June, on August 30th at Boston’s Royale, followed by stops in Washington, Asheville, Atlanta, and New York.
Now, he’s confirmed plans to hit up California also in September, which will see him perform in Santa Ana, Los Angeles and Santa Cruz. His North American itinerary also includes dates in Vancouver, Portland, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Toronto.
Then, on October 24th, Mike D will arrive in Europe, starting at Mutations Festival in Brighton on October 24th, followed by dates in Glasgow, Manchester, and the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London on October 28th.
In mainland Europe, Mike D’s 5D will perform in Amsterdam, Lille, Cologne, Lausanne, and Lyon before finishing the tour in Brussels on November 5th.
The tour is in support of his forthcoming solo album, Thank You, which is set for an August 28th release, and has already been previewed at UK shows in London and North Shields. Furthermore, this summer has seen him perform with his new group at Primavera in Porto as well as at Beyond the Pale in Ireland.
For Mike D, who hadn’t released music since The Beastie Boys split until this year, the album has “been so much fun making this music with people I love, and I have grown to really appreciate in our collaboration,” he said in press materials.
As the release date inches nearer, Mike D has also offered up his fourth single, ‘Crypto’, which finds him asking, “Where to go with that greed.”
Tickets for the new set of shows are set to go on sale at 10am local time on July 24th.
