Mick Jagger names his three favourite The Rolling Stones albums
The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has reflected on their back catalogue, revealing his favourite albums of their career.
Jagger made the comments in a new interview with Today, which aired on June 14th, as The Rolling Stones gear to release their new album, Foreign Tongues, on July 10th.
When asked about his favourite Rolling Stones album during the conversation, Jagger couldn’t bring himself to narrow it down to just one, instead listing off a series of favourites.
The rock icon shared, “I think Sticky Fingers is really good, I think Beggars Banquet is really good, I think Hackney Diamonds is pretty good, too.”
While looking back on their career, Jagger said of those early records, “There’s so much Rolling Stones albums that only have eight tracks, ‘Like, you only had eight tracks and you were like 30 years old? What were you doing?'”
He was then quizzed on his favourite Rolling Stones tracks, which was even more difficult for Jagger, who admitted, “I can’t do one song, there’s hundreds of songs.”
However, being the good sport that he is, Jagger did reel off a few favourites, adding, “There’s so many different styles, you’re running the gamut of ‘Sympathy for the Devil’, ‘Start Me Up’, ‘Angie’, ‘Honky Tonk Women’.”
Elsewhere, during the new conversation, Jagger also spoke about their new album, Foreign Tongues, and insisted, despite turning 83 next month, he has no plans to slow down, stating, “I have a lot more songs to write.”
He also discussed their touring plans, or lack thereof, admitting, “I’d love to, I really want to. I’m ready to go, but I don’t think we are going to do shows this year but hopefully next year.”
Jagger recently made similar remarks while speaking on BBC Radio 2. “I’d love to go on tour, I can’t wait,” the singer shared, before calming fans’ expectations of any imminent announcements, adding, “I don’t think it’s going to be this year, but hopefully it’s going to be as soon as possible.”
The discussions about a new tour come amid reports that The Stones previously axed plans for a 2026 tour, which was supposedly set to see them perform across Europe.
Additionally, it was previously reported that The Rolling Stones were due to hit the road in 2025 across the continent, including dates at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
