Major League Baseball team make fun of CEO caught cheating at Coldplay concert

The Philadelphia Phillies used their kiss cam at a baseball game on July 18th to re-enact the viral moment in which a tech CEO was caught cheating on his wife at a Coldplay show.

At Coldplay’s recent Boston show, their kiss camera focused on Andy Byron, CEO of tech company Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, his Head of People, in an embrace. “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re very shy,” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin commented as they both frightfully ducked when they saw their own likeness on the big screen.

The footage has since gone viral and has been viewed millions of times online. A fraudulent statement began circulating online, in which Byron used Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’ to apologise to his wife. Following this, his company, Astronomer, confirmed that they have launched an investigation into the footage.

In their latest game, the Philadelphia Phillies broadcast their kiss cam on a huge screen at Citizens Bank Park. The broadcast, set to Coldplay’s song ‘Speed of Sound,’ eventually reached its target.

It eventually landed on the team’s two mascots, who stood in the same pose as Byron and Cabot when their affair was caught. True to life, the characters re-enacted the same sheepish attempts to hide their identities.

The same kiss cam also provided another moment of irony: It focused on a fan who had brought a sign to the show that read, “This is my wife,” with the “is” underlined for emphasis. The couple kissed happily.

Though Byron’s wife has given no statement after the viral moment, she has since allegedly removed his last name from her social media pages following the incident.

According to the company’s LinkedIn page, Byron has been CEO of Astronomer, the New York City-based data orchestration platform that “empowers data teams to bring mission-critical analytics, AI, and software to life” since 2023. Cabot joined the team nine months ago.

Byron and Cabot are yet to comment on the situation.
