Lola Young “going away for a while” after passing out on stage
Lola Young has announced that she will be taking a step back from her music career to heal, after she collapsed on stage at a festival in New York.
The British singer-songwriter fell ill during her set at the American festival, All Things Must Go, on September 27th, while singing her early tune ‘Conceited’. A medical team rushed to the stage and carried her backstage. This followed a short speech where she had admitted to having a “tricky couple of days,” as “sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue.”
Immediately after the incident, the ‘Messy‘ singer shared a brief statement to her Instagram story, writing, “Hi, For anyone who saw my set at all things go today, i am doing okay now. Thank you for all of your support Lola xxx.”
Now, the 24-year-old has taken to social media again to announce the cancellation of all events she had booked for the foreseeable future. On September 30th, she wrote, “I’m going away for a while.”
She continued, “It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future. Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know.”
After writing that fans will “Obviously” receive a full refund, she wrote earnestly, “I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger. Love you all, Lola x.”
Several artists showed support for Young during their own performances. Rapper Doechii declared: “She’s an incredibly talented artist, and she wasn’t feeling well tonight, and I’m so glad you guys were there to support her and hold her up.”
Remi Wolf also insisted to the audience that “My friend Lola is backstage, and she is okay,” before admitting, “that was really fucking scary.”
Young was set to embark on a UK tour in October, followed by tour dates in the US, Mexico, and Canada in November and December. Now, none of the dates will be going ahead.
