Lola Young shares health update after collapsing on stage in New York
Lola Young has shared a health update with fans after collapsing on stage during All Things Must Go Music Festival in New York City.
The British singer-songwriter fell ill during her set at the American festival on September 27th, while singing ‘Conceited’. A medical team rushed to the stage and carried her backstage.
Young had admitted that she was struggling earlier in the set due to a “tricky couple of days”. However, the singer addressed the crowd and told them she was determined to continue: “Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue.”
She added, “But you know what, today I woke up and I made the decision to come here, and I wanted to be cool … and sometimes life can throw you lemons, and you just gotta make lemonade.”
After the incident, the ‘Messy‘ singer shared a brief statement to her Instagram story, writing, “Hi, For anyone who saw my set at all things go today, i am doing okay now. Thank you for all of your support Lola xxx.”
Several artists showed support for Young during their own performances. Rapper Doechii declared: “She’s an incredibly talented artist, and she wasn’t feeling well tonight, and I’m so glad you guys were there to support her and hold her up.”
Remi Wolf also insisted to the audience that “My friend Lola is backstage, and she is okay,” before admitting that the occurence had thrown her. “That was really fucking scary,” Wolf confessed.
In a review of her recent full-length release, I’m Only Fucking Myself, Far Out wrote, “These are good songs by a good artist with a good voice, not revelations and not tracks that will pioneer pop into new ground as she takes her clues from the likes of Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen. “And I’m fucking myself, but not like that,” she repeats on ‘Not Like That Anymore’, worthy of a chuckle, sure to get a big sin- along at the gig, but that’s about it.”
