Little Simz adds James Blake and Mahalia to Meltdown Festival line-up
Little Simz has added more artists to the lineup for Meltdown Festival 2025, including James Blake and Mahalia.
The Mercury Prize-winning rapper was announced as the festival’s curator for this year in February, fronting an initial bill which has now been expanded to include performances from the likes of Tiwa Savage, Badbadnotgood, Nubya Garcia, Mega, and Kara Jackson alongside Blake and Mahalia.
Meltdown Festival by the Southbank Centre will take place between June 12th and June 22nd, 2025, at a range of venues across London.
Previous names already announced on the lineup include The Streets, Ghetts, Jon Batiste, and Lola Young.
The vision for Meltdown Festival is curated around Little Simz’s expression of her music and an expansion of her artistic universe, with all those selected to perform being hand-picked for embodying that idea.
Alongside the musical performances, the festival will also include a free cultural programme open to the public, focused on showcasing new artistic talents in young people from across the capital city.
When her involvement with this year’s festival was first announced, Little Simz commented: “So many incredible artists have curated this festival so it’s a true honour to be a part of it. Thank you to the Southbank Centre for having me. Meltdown 2025 the Simz way is going to be epic. I’ll see you there.”
It comes at a peak time in the artist’s career. Last week, she announced that the release of her upcoming sixth studio album Lotus has been postponed until the week before the festival, on June 6th, owing to unspecified filming commitments for a movie she is currently taking part in.
Tickets for the newly added shows as part of Meltdown Festival will go on general sale on April 11th at 10am via the Southbank Centre website.
