Little Simz postpones album release due to filming commitments
Little Simz has postponed the release of her upcoming album, Lotus, due to a clash with filming commitments.
The Mercury Prize-winning artist posted on Instagram on April 1st that her new album Lotus, originally set to be released on May 9th, has now been pushed back to June 6th owing to filming that she is doing for a movie.
Explaining that the shooting schedule for the film “just came in,” Little Simz said in her statement that the situation was: “Not ideal for me or you I know, trust me I’ve tried many ways around it but just means I can’t do the film otherwise. If there was ever a time I ask for your grace and patience it is now.”
She added: “You can expect more music from Lotus in the meantime but the pushback date for the album in full will be June 6th, 2025. I’m sorry maynnnnn, I proper am. But only a few more extra weeks, then yours.”
Lotus will be Little Simz’s sixth studio album, following on from her last effort No Thank You, which was released in December 2022.
In the acting realm, the rapper’s most prolific role was in the Netflix drama Top Boy as the character Shelley, before also appearing as herself in the 2021 superhero film Venom: Let There be Carnage, where she was seen singing her track that shares a name with the protagonist.
It is not known what Little Simz’s current filming project is.
However, shortly after the album’s new release date, Little Simz will take to the stage in London as the curator of Meltdown Festival 2025, which will feature artists like The Streets and Jon Batiste.
