Lindsey Buckingham confirms new solo album is on the way
Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham has confirmed that he has a new solo album in the works.
The upcoming release from Buckingham will mark his first full-length studio project since his self-titled offering in 2021.
Taking to social media, Buckingham unveiled of his new record, “This new album is just representative of the culmination of everything that I’ve learned from making solo albums over the last 25 years.”
He continued, “I feel like this particular album is the culmination of holding a certain line ethically and idealistically that I’ve managed to maintain for many years. I’m really excited about this piece of work.”
As it stands, there is no release date or title for the upcoming album.
In recent months, his attention has been diverted to celebrating the unlikely re-release of his first album, Buckingham Nicks, which he made with Stevie Nicks in 1973. The album had been out of print and unavailable on streaming services until two months ago.
While the record wasn’t a commercial success, it later became a cult classic, and also opened the door for the pair to create musical history with Fleetwood Mac.
It has also marked the end of their feud. To promote the album, they gave separate interviews to Song Exploder, with Nicks letting the cat out of the bag that they are talking again, sharing, “Lindsey and I started talking about it last night. This whole thing seems really like yesterday to us.”
Only last year, Nicks revealed that the last time she spoke to Buckingham following his dismissal from Fleetwood Mac in 2018 was a brief encounter that occurred at the memorial service for their bandmate Christine McVie in 2023.
She told Rolling Stone in 2024, “The only time I’ve spoken to Lindsey was there, for about three minutes. I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could. You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances”.
