Liam Gallagher confirms there is no new Oasis album in the works
Ever since Oasis announced their long-awaited reunion back in August, there has been a lot of speculation about whether Noel and Liam Gallagher will reunite in the studio, working to create a brand-new Oasis album for the first time in over 15 years. Now, though, Liam Gallagher has taken to social media to confirm that there is no new music in the works from Manchester’s Britpop heroes.
So far, the Oasis reunion has been limited to an extensive world tour, seeing the brothers visit the UK, Ireland, Australia, as well as North and South America. This tour is set to begin in the summer of 2025 and run through til the winter, with the potential for more dates still to be added to the roster. However, this tour announcement only seemed to fuel the fire of fans speculating about new music to come from the Gallagher brothers.
In answer to these rumours, Liam Gallagher has taken to his preferred method of communication to set the record straight. Writing on X, formerly Twitter, the frontman shared, “Let’s just calm the fuck down there is no Oasis album in the making,” explaining, “I was fucking joking remember them and the reason being because everyone is a little uptight these days I’m sorry if I have upset anyone but fuck me it was a laugh.”
That post came in response to an Oasis fan page that claimed the brothers have been working on recording new material. Liam seemingly put those claims to rest. However, It must be noted that his social media posts have not always been accurate, and the singer seems to revel in creating a stir on the platform.
Additionally, the idea of Oasis recording new material is not so outlandish. After all, both Liam and Noel have continued to write music within their respective solo careers, much of it taking on a similar kind of atmosphere and style to Oasis’ discography. Liam’s solo work, in particular, harked back to the glory days of his old band, back in their 1990s heyday.
If Oasis were to record and release new material, it would be their first time back in the studio together since 2008’s Dig Out Your Soul. The recording process for that record was famously tumultuous as the relationship between Liam and Noel Gallagher became increasingly strained. What’s more, the resulting record is rarely mentioned among Oasis’ finest works, being forgettable at best.
Ultimately, the idea of the band working together to create new material seems fairly unlikely, particularly given that Noel – as the primary songwriter – is still creating material for his solo project, The High Flying Birds. However, depending on how well the reunion tour goes, there is certainly the possibility that new Oasis material will arise at some point in the future.
