Liam Gallagher thinks Manic Street Preachers and Suede are “shit” and “dress like estate agents”

Manic Street Preachers and Suede have both unexpectedly become the latest victims of Liam Gallagher‘s social media output.

The unpredictable Oasis frontman went for the two 1990s rock bands after a fan innocently asked him for his thoughts on them teaming up for a joint arena tour later this year.

In response, Gallagher replied, “Fuck them”, which led to him being inundated with fans seeking an explanation for his harsh choice of words.

He later accused bands of being “shit”, as well as saying they “lack attitude swagger and style”.

Even more damningly, Gallagher then saved his dagger blow until last, writing, “Dress like estate agents and if they want bring it fucking on.”

Manic Street Preachers share a rich history with Oasis, who they toured with in the ’90s, including the Mancunians’ legendary homecoming stadium shows at Maine Road Stadium in 1996.

Liam even teased on X in 2024 that Manic Street Preachers would be supporting Oasis on their reunion tour, before saying he was “only kidding” and saying Richard Ashcroft is “our boy from day DOT come aboard Rkid”.

However, his thoughts on Suede don’t appear to have changed. Around the same time, he was asked on X about the possibility of Suede supporting Oasis, to which he replied, “Not happening there too cocky esp that singer”.

Previously, in 2019, Suede frontman Brett Anderson distanced himself from Britpop, which he called “laddish, distasteful, misogynistic”.

He also said, “I disassociated myself from that very early on, as soon as I saw what I saw as becoming this kind of laddish, jingoistic, cartoon happening, which became Britpop, I very quickly distanced Suede from that.”

Gallagher reacted publicly to Anderson’s comments, writing on social media, “Check this shit out regarding this Britpop nonsense. I hear Burt out of Suede has said it was very laddish. See I disagree, I thought it was the opposite – I thought it was very BLOUSEY, which is why I distanced myself from it. LG x”.

Seemingly, he still holds the grudge almost a decade later.

Suede and Manic Street Preachers’ tour will kick off in Glasgow on October 28th, after which it will zoom over to Leeds and Manchester for a performance at the Co-op Live on Halloween.

Following this, the two acts will play two nights at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena, followed up by a night at London’s The O2, and shows in Birmingham, Nottingham, and Bournemouth.
