Liam Gallagher fumes at McVitie’s over missing Fig Rolls: “There’s a thief on the loose”

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has a new enemy in the form of biscuit manufacturer McVitie’s.

Now that Liam has buried the hatchet with his brother Noel, the Oasis singer is now airing his anger at McVitie’s after feeling like he’d been sold short with the number of Fig Rolls in a packet.

Taking to X on April 1st, Gallagher initially posted, “To whom it may concern MC VITIES FIG ROLLS aka THE FiGGY ONE the last couple of packets I’ve purchased there’s been biscuits missing 3 in each lane only 2 some times now 1 sort it out there’s a thief on the loose IM SERIOUS”.

Despite the date, Gallagher was not delivering an April Fools, telling a fan in the comments section, “I’m not heartbroken I’m fucking angry”.

He also shared his belief that “it’s someone in the factory” that has been helping themselves to Fig Rolls that have left him without a full packet.

Additionally, when asked if the packet was fully sealed when he opened, Gallagher reiterated his theory that a McVitie’s factory worker is to blame, writing, “Yes proper sealed man it’s someone on the factory floor dipping the figs”.

Liam then shared an image of a packet of Fig Rolls, which indeed only had 10 biscuits in when the packet appeared to have room for 12. Not missing an opportunity to poke fun at his bandmate’s misfortune, Bonehead also posted a GIF of Fig Rolls on his X account.

Either Gallagher has been extremely unlucky with the packets of Fig Rolls that have been placed in his Ocado order, or the humble Fig Roll is the latest victim of Shrinkflation.

A 2025 study from Which? found that many confectionery items had been reduced in size amid rising costs, such as the Terry’s Chocolate Orange that had been shrunk from 152 grams to 145 grams and multipacks of the Kit Kat two-finger milk chocolate bar shrinking from 21 bars to 18 bars.

McVitie’s have not yet responded to Gallagher’s complaints and offered an explanation for the missing Fig Rolls.

Aside from Fig Roll-gate, an update was recently provided on the upcoming documentary, which captured Oasis’ epic reunion tour in 2025.

In an interview with Project Big Screen, Steven Knight, who is producing the film, lifted the lid on where they currently are in the process, sharing, “It’s phenomenal. We’ve got it down to four hours, so we’ve gotta get it down to (a shorter running time).”
