Liam Gallagher denies reports of Oasis documentary
After Britpop icons Oasis announced their long-awaited reunion, rumours of an accompanying documentary began to circle. Now, singer Liam Gallagher has shut down the idea.
In August, Noel and Liam Gallagher announced a series of Oasis comeback shows for 2025. The band will perform across the UK and Ireland next summer, with gigs in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin. Reunion shows have also been announced for North America and Australia for later in the year.
Oasis were previously the subject of Mat Whitecross’ 2016 documentary Supersonic, which took its name from the Manchester band’s debut single. The film charted the chaotic success of the band in the 1990s, featuring footage from the era.
The Sun initially speculated that a new documentary would be made about the band’s return, but Liam has now denied these rumours. On X, a fan asked Liam about the status of the documentary, prompting him to respond, “We’re not doing 1 I’m not gonna be in it anyway.”
“I’m doing the gigs,” Liam continued, suggesting that there has been “enough said” about Oasis. “It’s time to get Rocking and Rolling not yapping and scrapping,” he concluded.
“We’ve been over this bollox a million times,” Liam continued, in response to another fan who suggested that there was no need for accompanying interviews, “and some people have different versions to others.”
“We’re back and that’s all that matters to me,” Liam stated, suggesting that should be all that matters to “real” fans too.
Who are supporting Oasis on their reunion tour?
Oasis are yet to officially announce who will support them on their reunion tour in the United Kingdom and Ireland, but Liam recently suggested that Richard Ashcroft and Cast might be joining them on-stage. Cast spawned from the same Britpop scene that gave Oasis their success, while Ashcroft first found fame with The Verve in the late 1990s before embarking upon a solo career.
“Just spoke to the CHEF here it is OASIS RICHARD ASHCROFT CAST you are welcome see you nxt year I’m of to to identify as a massive cunt LG x,” Liam wrote on X a couple of weeks back.
The choice makes sense, given Ashcroft’s history with the band, though some fans expected Oasis to take the opportunity to spotlight newer, upcoming artists.
Meanwhile, Cage The Elephant has been unveiled as the support act for all dates in North America. At this stage, it remains to be seen who will be joining Oasis in Austrralia.
