2019 has had some great albums already. It’s had some brilliant new bands and some sensational new acts. But, we think you would all agree, the best bit about the year is Lewis Capaldi and Noel Gallagher’s feud. Word on the block is that it has taken a brand new and unexpected turn.
Capaldi and Gallagher’s feud began when Noel disparagingly lumped Capaldi in with his comment “music is fucking wank at the moment”. Capaldi went on to arrive at the stage in Glastonbury dressed up as the former Oasis man. Noel then rebutted by calling Capaldi Chewbacca and Scotland a “third world country” to which Capaldi replied by wearing a Chewbacca mask while singing some Oasis tunes.
It’s all pretty playground stuff and it seems it has resolved itself like all schoolboy feuds do, with one adversary pinning the other with a gentle man-hug while whispering sweet nothings into each other’s ears.
“I met him. I actually met him at Mad Cool Festival!”, Capaldi told BBC Scotland. “I gave him a big hug and whispered in his ear ‘It’s gonna be OK’. He was wriggling, but I pinned him and said ‘Noel!’, I’m here and it’s gonna be fine’”.
“It’s all a good laugh isn’t it? It’s very funny and you can’t it seriously. He doesn’t care, I’m not bothered,” Capaldi confirmed.
“Say what you want, it’s a good laugh! Noel’s new EP Black Star Dancing is available to download right now, so make sure you go out and grab that. It’s a lovely, lovely piece of work.”
So it seems the best bit of 2019 is over already. Noel Gallagher and Lewis Capaldi are friends. If only Noel had another loudmouth Manc he could argue with for eternity… oh, wait.
